Ryan Michler is a husband, father, Iraqi Combat Veteran, and the Founder of Order of Man. Ryan grew up without a permanent father figure and has seen first-hand how a lack of strong, ambitious, self-sufficient men has impacted society today. It has now become his life's mission to help men across the planet step more fully into their roles as protectors, providers, and presiders over themselves, their families, their businesses, and their communities. You can find him blogging and podcasting at Order of Man where he is working to help men become all they were meant to be.

E59 | Nathan Parnham: The Difference(s) Between Coaching Male and Female Athletes
Wednesday Jan 22, 2020
Wednesday Jan 22, 2020
Today is the day, my online course Valued is now live! We're offering a $100 discount for the next few days. So make sure you take advantage of this.
Now, what is Valued? You've heard me talk about this again and again, this is the first guide for strength and conditioning professionals, personal trainers, you can lump yourself in there too, and physical therapists that guide you through the sticking points in your career, whether that's about finances, whether that's how to get certain jobs, whether how to manage burnout, whether that's running a business. Even those of you that have written in and said, “Hey, you know, I feel like I invested tons of time in the technical knowledge and expertise, but I'm just not valued.”
That's why the name of the course is Valued. We're addressing how you can overcome those things. We're trying to teach you how you can show or explain or demonstrate true value to your employer, either current or eventual, and most importantly, how you can get over the anxiety of asking for what you're worth.
Visit https://courses.artofcoaching.com/valued-signup/ and receive $100 off for the next few days!
Alright, I'm going to let you go enjoy this episode with Nathan Parnham and don't forget for the next few days you can get Valued at $100 off!

A lot of times there are people out there that if you're a really committed individual, you're a passionate individual, and you're somebody that has spent a lot of time and you have a lot of focus and faith and all that poured into your craft, there are a lot of people that will try to take advantage of that by the use of one really powerful tool, and that tool is guilt. I offer you my own experiences in dealing with this on today's episode.

E55 | Duncan French: Fadbusting Training for Combat Sports
Monday Jan 06, 2020
Monday Jan 06, 2020
The first workshops to dive more deeply into the technical aspects of communication in coaching are now live!
If you are someone who values deep learning, the acquisition and evaluation of new skills you will actually use, as well as finding out what makes those around you tick, then we invite you to join us for our highly interactive Apprenticeship™ 2-day live event!
The Art of Coaching Apprenticeship™ is research backed, and is the first event of its kind to truly bridge the gap between skilled interpersonal communication and leadership development across domains.
Collectively, our programs have welcomed leaders of all ages from over 30 professions and 22 countries including Australia, Mexico, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Brazil, Africa, China, India, Norway and Poland.
Simply put, if you work with people in any capacity, The Apprenticeship™ is for you!
Whether your goal is to become more effective at building buy-in with those you lead, improving your ability to adapt on the fly, making critical decisions under uncertainty, or simply improving your own self-awareness as a leader, these two days will help you extract strategies that you can actually put to use.
The vast majority of our attendees seek us out specifically because they have had enough of the traditional “death-by-PowerPoint” seminars that are rife with vague self-help sound bites, trust falls, overcrowded conference rooms, shouting gurus, and topics that ignore the chaotic realities of true leadership such as:
Topics Include:
- Navigating Power Dynamics & Politics
- Building Buy-In Across Varying Generations
- The Role of Perception in Leadership
- The Skilled and Ethical Use of Influence in Leadership
- 7 Critical Elements of Interpersonal Communication
- Strategies for Making Better Decisions While Under Duress
- The Truth Regarding Self-Awareness and Reflection
- Conflict Resolution in the New Age
- Creating Assessments and Evaluations For Yourself and Your Team
This is done through a strategic mixture of case study reviews, role playing break-outs, self and peer evaluations, film break-downs, group discussions and more.
The truth is that every leader needs a safe place to rehearse and refine their strategies for some of life’s biggest moments-The Apprenticeship™ is that place.
We look forward to seeing you! I would also like to remind everyone that our very next The Apprenticeship™ is on Saturday, January 25th at The Rack Athletic Performance Center in Atlanta, GA!

John Welbourn is someone that simplifies, gets to the point, and like myself, has almost no tolerance for B.S. This is a conversation I really enjoyed having with John and I think you will enjoy our conversation as well.
John Welbourn is a former 9-year NFL starter and CEO of Power Athlete. He also created the online training phenomena, Johnnie WOD. John was drafted with the 97th pick in 1999 NFL Draft and went on to be a starter for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2003, appearing in 3 NFC Championship games, and a starter for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2004-2007. In 2008, he played with the New England Patriots until an injury ended his season early with him retiring in 2009. Over the course of his career, John started over 100 games with 10 play-off appearances. He was a four year lettermen while playing football at the University of California at Berkeley. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Rhetoric. John has worked with the MLB, NFL, NHL, Olympic athletes and Military. He travels the world lecturing on performance and nutrition for Power Athlete.
Topics discussed with John today:
- John's journey at an early age and how public shaming challenged him to feverishly pursue becoming a college football player
- John covers what it was like training as an NFL lineman in and out of season throughout our conversation
- The pivotal conversation that led John to have one singular goal in pursuing his education
- The circumstances that led John to discern between good and bad information through training and education
- How John helps his clients understand "attacking" the weights within explosive movements and compensatory acceleration
- How the weight room helped John chisel away and remove all of the rubble throughout his career
- The problems that face strength coaches today and why they're not in control of their own destiny

On today's show guys, we have Eric Cressey. Eric Cressey is the president and co-founder of Cressey Sports Performance and has facilities in Hudson, Massachusetts and Jupiter, Florida. Eric has been a legend in the performance game for a very long time. He's put out a tremendous amount of content.
He works with a number of organizations, and he has worked with well over a hundred major league baseball players throughout his career. Now, it's also important to note that it's not just the major league level, right? Eric cut his teeth at every level and that's what makes him special. There was no early specialization within his development as a coach.
He's always looked at a full spectrum view and has one of the most unique hybrid takes on both strength and conditioning and just anatomy and physiology and an understanding of biomechanics and force transfer than almost anybody else in the field. Most importantly, the main reason I wanted to get Eric on this show is because of the tremendous amount of balance and scale he shown, not only as a father, as a strength coach, but as a business owner.
So if you're somebody that's listening to this that isn't in the performance community, you're still gonna love this. We talk about a lot of different things. He actually has a background in accounting, which is something I learned through our conversation. So even those of you who are finance nerds, I think are going to find this very interesting.
I'm experimenting with a new way of kind of getting these bio's out of the way early so you guys can enjoy the episode. Let me know what you think. You are going to enjoy this and if you can make sure to turn up the volume. Eric was sick during this episode and he was still kind enough to come on and give you some phenomenal, phenomenal content. Lastly, make sure that you guys download the Art of Coaching podcast reflection sheets. These are sheets that you can download that help you make the most of the tactics delivered in the episode. They're completely free to you. Just go to artofcoaching.com and you'll be able to find them in the podcast section.
